So, this is my [most likely] schedule for the next year, and what started this whole thing. I'll be starting in February and spending a month on each fandom. Each activity will have a challenge to judge my improvement by, like my first running challenge will be to run a mile and a half without stopping. If an activity appears more than once, it'll have a different challenge the second time around [running, for instance, will be to complete a 5k or maybe even a 1Ok, depending on how easy the first challenge was]. I tried not to repeat a lot of activities, although I'll hopefully be keeping up with a lot past their four weeks, but some I really want to focus on. Like running, if you can't tell.

And, because I like to exercise my mind as well as my body, I've included an intellectual challenge for each fandom as well. That's completely optional, but I thought it was a nice addition.

DOCTOR WHO

  • running
  • yoga
  • intellectual challenge: make a tardis something [mug, painting, real life model]

LORD OF THE RINGS

  • hiking
  • archery
  • tracking
  • intellectual challenge: learn poisonous and edible plants in the area

ZOMBIES

  • running
  • jump rope
  • arm strength
  • intellectual challenge: complete first aid course

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER

  • kickboxing
  • gymnastics
  • intellectual challenge: make a vampire mask

XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS

  • chakram throwing [weighted frisbees]
  • staff fighting
  • intellectual challenge: go to a museum exhibit on greek art

MERLIN

  • sword fighting
  • horse riding
  • jumping
  • intellectual challenge: horse care

LOST

  • hiking
  • swimming
  • intellectual challenge: learn edible/poisonous plants in a tropical setting

THE HUNGER GAMES

  • survival camping
  • paintball
  • tree climbing
  • intellectual challenge: make a meal with ingredients gathered in the wild in the area

TORTALL

  • jousting [if available, hand to hand combat if not]
  • ballroom dancing
  • fencing
  • intellectual challenge: go to an event [protest/rally/meeting] with a feminist group

HARRY POTTER

  • stair climbing
  • kickboxing
  • quidditch
  • intellectual challenge: learn some chemistry [this will be more defined the closer the challenge gets]

QUEER AS FOLK

  • self-defense course
  • cycling
  • weight lifting
  • intellectual challenge: go to an event [protest/rally/meeting] with a queer rights activist group

LORD OF THE RINGS [REVISITED]

  • rock climbing
  • rowing
  • winter survival camping
  • intellectual challenge: make an elven cloak

Just as a note, ideally I'd have three physical activities for each fandom so if you can think of one for the few that only have two listed, please let me know.

wow!
This sounds like an amazing idea! I've just started working out and getting healthy so hopefully I can steal some of your ideas but on a smaller scale. I'm blanking on idea for some of the fandoms with two ideas but maybe it'll be one of those things that comes to you when you're about to go to sleep.

You can absolutely steal some of the ideas! One of the reasons I made this into a community instead of just a blog was so we could provide ideas and feedback to other people who are interested. If someone can't come up with an idea for a fandom, there might be someone else who knows that fandom as well and can help out.

I'm starting on the first of the month, and I think at least one other person is as well, so posting will be more regular then. This week is my "prep" week, aka doing small amounts of cardio and trying to convince my body that it isn't as out of shape as it thinks it is. Otherwise, I'd probably pass out the first minute I try to run!
